About the academy

A world-class
academy in
Upland

Instruction from World Champions without the ego. We built the room we would want to train in: technical, hard when you want it to be, and welcoming on day one.

What this is

One room,
every level

Jiu-jitsu is the rare sport where the smaller, older or less athletic person can win on technique alone. It is also the rare sport where someone three months in trains on the same mat as someone headed to Worlds. That mix is not a compromise here. It is the whole point.

On any given week there are 33 classes running, from a four-year-old’s first day to the competition team drilling for an IBJJF bracket. Beginners get a dedicated fundamentals track, and the person you are paired with on your first night has been asked to look after you.

Our address is 771 W Foothill Blvd in Upland, a few minutes from Rancho Cucamonga, Claremont and Ontario. Come in fifteen minutes before any beginners or all-levels class and try it. The first one is free, and nobody is going to corner you at the door afterwards.

How we train

Three things
we hold to

Technique over ego

Nobody proves anything by hurting a training partner. Hard rounds are earned between people who trust each other, never imposed on someone who just walked in.

Everyone gets taught

Whether you are prepping for Worlds or still figuring out how to shrimp, someone is actually coaching you. You are not left to copy whatever the person next to you is doing.

The mat is the community

The reason people stay is rarely the technique. Training partners here turn into the friendships that get you through the weeks you would rather stay home.

The standard

World-class
instruction

Our professors have competed and coached at the highest levels of the sport, and it shows in how they teach. The belt you earn here is earned the hard way, on standards that hold up on any mat in the world.

For you it shows up in the details: clean fundamentals, honest promotions, and coaching that meets you where you are, whether it is your first week or your first competition.
